SYBA In-House 6U-9U
Shakopee Youth Baseball Association's In-House Baseball Program is focused on teaching the fundamentals of baseball in a relaxed and fun environment. Each age level will see progressive steps in development of baseball skills.

Pitching and Catching
6U/7U: Coach Pitch Only, No Catcher
8U: Combination of Coach and Kid Pitch. Catching will be introduced
9U: Kid pitch with a regular catcher
Ages
What aged players are appropriate for this program?
6U/7U: Players will be 6 or 7 years old (primarily K & 1st Grade) .
8U: Most players will be 8 years old (primarily 2nd Grade). Some exceptions may be made for 9 year olds that are brand new to baseball and potentially for 7 year olds that demonstrate at evaluations that they are ready for a slightly higher level. Player safety is integral to evaluations and player placement.
9U: Most players will be 9 years old (primarily 3rd Grade). Some exceptions may be made for 10 year olds that are brand new to baseball and potentially for 8 year olds that demonstrate at evaluations that they are ready for a slightly higher level. Player safety is integral to evaluations and player placement.
Depending on registration numbers 8U and 9U could be combined.
When
What time of the year does this program run?
Season begins with player evaluations on April 11th at the High School Fieldhouse to split teams evenly. The official season will begin the first week in May and will culminate with a Jamboree July 25-26.
Where
Where are practices and games typically held?
6U/7U: Practices and games will rotate between Sweeney and Pearson. (locations subject to change)
8U: Practices and games will either be at Red Oak or Muenchow. (locations subject to change)
9U: Practices and games will either be at Red Oak or Muenchow. (locations subject to change)
Practices
When are practices and how often are they?
Teams practice two times per week. Each field is shared by two teams for individual practices.
6U/7U: Practices and games will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
8U: Practices and games will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays**
9U: Practices and games will be on Mondays and Wednesdays**
** If registrations numbers do not support stand alone 8U and 9U levels, practices/games will be on Tuesday and Thursday.
Games
How many games will they play?
Teams will begin the season with two practices per week for the first couple of weeks. After that, teams will have 1 game per week and 1 practice.
Jerseys
Are jerseys provided or are they purchased separately?
A jersey and a hat is included in the price of registration.
Extra Costs
What costs beyond registration fees should be expected?
Equipment: Players will provide their own pants, belt, socks, glove, bat, helmet, bag, and cleats. Most of these items are available at no charge through the SYBA equipment swap held during the Spring.
Volunteer Requirements
Families will need to complete 2 hours of volunteer work at the Shako Showdown or In-House Jamboree.
