The Shakopee Post 2 Legion baseball program encompasses 2-3 teams, at both the Senior and Junior Levels, with players aged from 15 to 18 years old. We are sponsored by Shakopee American Legion Post 2 and serve the players within the Shakopee School District. Each team competes in an area Junior or Senior Legion league, weekend in-state and out-state tournaments, and the Legion Sub-State and State Tournaments.

For 2026, the Shakopee Legion baseball program will have one Senior legion team (Ages 15-18) and two Junior Legion teams (Ages 15-17).

The Shakopee American Legion baseball program is for players ages 15 through 18. 

Legion team player placement is based on the players’ spring High School baseball performance and are put together by the Shakopee High School head coach. 

Each legion team will play between 30-40 games, depending on performance. Home games and practices are held at Joe Schelper Stadium, Stemmer Field, or Tahpah West. Practices will begin after the high school season is complete, with games being played in June and July. Players can expect 1-2 practices per week.

Legion teams typically play in 2-3 tournaments in June and July, including at least one out-state tournament. The Legion Sub-State Tournament usually begins the third week of July, with the State Tournament starting at the end of July and going into the first week of August.

Week of July 29th – Senior Legion State Tournament

Home and away jerseys and one hat are provided by the Legion Baseball program. Players are responsible for providing their belt and socks. Players are responsible for maintaining their uniforms throughout the season and should arrive to games in full team attire. Extra hats are available for purchase at registration.

The expected Legion baseball cost for the 2026 season is $TBD. Legion baseball registration is expected to open in February 2026. Any players that do not make a Legion roster will have their registration funds returned.

All families of Legion players are expected to assist with various game day tasks, as well as any summer tournaments hosted at Joe Schleper Stadium.
