We were hoping for more favorable news for organized youth sports yesterday. However, with the continued uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, at least through June 1, and nearly half the season already missed, the SYBA Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the existing 2020 summer baseball season and return the registration fees to our families at this time. SYBA still maintains the desire to offer small-group skills drills in June and even re-open a modified season later this summer and/or fall, once deemed safe/able to do so. More information on re-registering for these opportunities will be coming once a clearer picture of what we can/cannot offer is announced.
While SYBA has incurred several fixed expenses for the summer season, the Board is committed to our families and has decided to reallocate funds to cover those expenses. We will start the process of refunding 100% of the registration fees collected and cancelling all future payment plans, for those who were using that option. Please be patient with this process as it may take 2-4 weeks to complete refunds for over 500 registrations. We will also look into a future date to safely hand out our Gold Cards for those families who wish to have one to support the merchants who have supported our program throughout the years.
SYBA’s summer travel tournament originally scheduled for June 5-7 has been officially canceled.
Players and families are encouraged to continue to use our parks and batting cages in small groups, as permitted. Please look for future announcements regarding baseball opportunities we hope to be able to offer later this summer.
