Overview of 2025 Season

There are four levels of Community League Baseball.

  1. 10/11U – Grades 4th & 5th *
  2. 12/13U – Grades 6th & 7th
  3. 14/15U – Grades 8th & 9th
  4. 16-18U – Grades 10th, 11th, & 12th

All ages are as of May 1, 2025, and grades are the grade you are in for the 2024-2025 school year.

*4th graders also have the option of playing in the 9/10U – Grades 3rd/4th In House program

Communities that participate in the SW Community League include Edina, Eden Prairie, Chaska, Chanhassen, Carver, Jordan, Waconia, and Shakopee.  Not all the communities have a team at every level.

Practices start the week of April 21st – weather permitting.  We will have two practices per week for three weeks. Games start the week of May 5th and run through the week of July 8th.  We have one game and one practice a week for May and then 2 games for June for a total of 12 games.  Half of those games will be at home and the other will be away.  We try to have games/practices on Mondays through Thursdays avoiding weekends if possible.

The scheduling meeting will be the end of April and full schedules will be posted shortly after that date.

Depending on registration numbers, player evaluation's will be April 12th. The purpose of this evaluation is to try to create equal teams.

As part of your registration fee, you will receive a jersey and a cap.  You will need to purchase grey baseball pants and shoes.  You will also need a baseball glove, bat, and batting helmet.  We prefer the batting helmet to be red but other colors are ok.

We will be having a baseball equipment swap meet on Saturday, March 22nd at the Shakopee High School Fieldhouse where there is a lot of good-condition used baseball equipment you can pick up for FREE.

The cost of playing community league baseball is $240.  We do have payment options available and there are scholarship options also available.

Evaluations

Community League evaluations are scheduled for April 12th at East Middle School.

The purpose of the evaluations is to get a sense of your son's baseball ability so that we can set up "equal" teams.

Evaluations will be indoors in the East Middle School gym.  Please be dressed for baseball with clean gym shoes. Bring your glove, bat and helmet. Evaluations will consist of a brief assessment of your son's ability to catch, throw and hit. We hope to be able to assess his ability to pitch - we want everyone to give pitching a try.

They will be held at East Middle School 1137 Marschall Rd, Shakopee, MN 55379

Times are listed by Age Group:

  • 4th/5th Grade: 12pm – 1pm
  • 6th/7th Grade: 1pm – 2pm
  • 8th/9th Grade AND 10th-12th Grade: 2pm – 3pm
    • With only 1 team at these levels, we will NOT have evals
    • However, we have the gym space and cages, and I encourage you to come

We encourage all players to be at evaluations but if you cannot attend, please send Ryan Schmitz (ryan.schmitz@us.lactalis.com) an email letting him know an "honest" assessment of your son's abilities.  Again the goal is to set up equal teams so that all teams have an equal chance at success.
