Shakopee Baseball Association

Thank  you for your interest in the SYBA youth umpire program for the 2012 season.  The youth umpire program has been established to provide umpires for the in-house and valley league baseball programs in Shakopee.  The program provides an opportunity for our young adults to gain a deeper understanding of the game of baseball through the umpiring experience and earn a little extra cash along the way.

To be eligible to be a SYBA youth umpire, you must have completed the 7th grade (13 yrs old), a resident of Shakopee or the surronding community, and attend the umpire training class.  There will be priority given to current players in the Shakopee baseball association, but the program generally needs some non-player umpires too.  

Signing up is simple.  When you register for the 2012 season in January or February, check the box that indicates that you are interest in being a youth umpire.  If you forget to check the box or if you are a non-player umpire, simply send an e-mail to the umpire coordinator.  A link to send an e-mail is provided on the Youth Umpire home page.

Umpire training will be held on Sunday, April 15th at Jackson Elementary.  Training will begin at 6:00 p.m.  Date and Time are subject to change.
