Sometimes the numbers of participants may dictate a different option that will best suit all players involved in each age group. The SYBA Board reserves the right to make adjustments to these teams based on what they believe best serves all baseball players in this organization. The SYBA promises to communicate these decisions in a timely manner. The following teams are anticipated:
10 -Year-Old Metro Traveling Teams (for players age 10 and under on May 1). Players on these teams will not play in the Shakopee Rookie League. This league is for players wanting a more competitive experience. Teams at the A, AA, and AAA will be selected based on tryouts with 11-12 players making each team. These players will play in a traveling Metro League during weekdays and play in three weekend tournaments, including the Shakopee Tournament. The other two weekends will be determined and posted on the SYBA website by the end of March. This team may choose to play in 1-3 state tournaments (mid-end-of-July) if they qualify. SYBA will pay the entry fee for one state tournament appearance (not to exceed the MBT Tournament fee). Families pay the gate fees and entry fees for the other State Tournaments. Only players committed to travel for the Metro team should try out at this level. If there are enough players for a second team at a Metro level, they will be divided equally (11-12 players per team). If a player tries out for Metro Baseball and does not make the team(s), he will be placed on a team in the Shakopee Minor League. Jerseys are provided by SYBA; red helmet, grey pants, black belt, and black socks purchased separately by each player.
